A Good Book
Hello, Friends!
I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start. Today is the15th, so that means I get to share another Dueling Darlings card with you! Our hostess for the Divas this month was Laura Jean and she and Terry (hostess for the Dazzlers) chose a book theme for us since January is Book Blitz month.
LJ put together and AWESOME kit for us and I tried to use as many elements as I could. The stamp is Graphic 45, ABC primer collection, the paper is Echo Park Paper, This & That, the ribbon is American Crafts, buttons are PTI and Amuse and the sentiment is from Stampin Up.
In addition to our card, we have also been asked to share our favorite book and/or author and why. My favorite author has always been John Steinbeck. I was really taken by his short story, Chrysanthemums, when I was in college and I've enjoyed his work ever since. But my favorite book is the Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. My Aunt gave me this book when I was young and it just sat on my shelf for the longest time. I suppose it wasn't the right time for me to read it, but when I finally did, it captured my heart. An amazing story of Faith and Strength and true Godly character. Corrie Ten Boom is such an inspiration to me and I wish I had even an ounce of the faith that she had.
Thank you LJ and Terry for another fun month!
Be sure and stop by and see what the Divas and Dazzlers have created today.

ReplyDeleteI love the vivid colors and how you tied it all together. It is as if the backgrounds are visions from her book.
Really good job!
Beautiful card, Kadie! It's a delight to the eye to see all the pattern and placement of these terrific dsp!! Love how you've used buttons, clip and ribbons to highlight the theme with your pretty little "bookworm" miss!
ReplyDeleteYou've chosen some mighty fine authors as your favorites and inspiration. Corrie Ten Boom was an amazing woman.
Love the card Kadie and that little girl image is too sweet.
ReplyDeleteKadie, your card is so sweet! I am in awe of how perfectly you trimmed around that image. I can never do that... my attempts always look horrible. Love your coloring (of course) and the fun elements you added to your card!

ReplyDeleteWow!! Kadie, I have been sitting here taking in every detail of your beautiful card for at least 5 minutes!! I don't even know where to begin - the scrumptious colors, the lovely panels and layers, the little scene behind in silhouette, the cheery buttons...It's all just fabulous! I need lessons from you.

ReplyDeletewow Katie! what an awesome fun filled with awesome dp's this card this is!! I {{{♥}}} the sharp, vivid green of the cute vintage lil girl image...and I especially love how U added a playful silhuette scene on the side...almost as if the lil girl preferred a lil corner to herself w/ a good read, instead of a play date w/friends! (at least that's my interpretation...eheh) ♥
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh joyful joyful! This is so bright and vivid and you did a stand up job with this lil cutie! Love how it's cut out and it adds a nice contrast to the card!
