A Day at the Beach

Hellooooo and Happy Friday to you all! Isn't it strange how we can have a short work week and yet, it still feels like the longest week? At least that's how it's felt for me...but hooray, it's Friday again!

I really like to try new things with my cards. So, for today's card I used acetate paper. Acetate is really hard to photograph though! :) I hope you enjoy this little "risk" I took and maybe a day at the beach is in your future...or whatever you like to do to kick back. Thanks for stopping by and have a Fabulous weekend!

Oh, AND The Greeting Farm releases it's new stamps on Monday!! Yipee! Check out Marie's blog for sneaks. Set your clocks for bright and early Monday morning and we'll see ya there!

Absent Minded

I don't know where my brain is lately. I packed up my camera today and set it next to my lunch. Then I packed up my cards safely into my purse. Then my DH reminded me he needed a check from our checkbook today (I am the keeper of the checks...LOL). Then I fed the dog, grabbed my purse and my lunch and ran out the door. Well, all I can say is...at least the dog got fed!! LOL. I forgot the check and forgot the camera! GRRRR. I was so excited to show you today's card too! Oh, well, because of my camera blunder I will show you two little sneaks (see real pics now) and then I'll post both cards tomorrow...so be sure and check back! Hope you had a wonderful Holiday weekend! My Mom, Aunt, Sis and I went to see Grease the Musical yesterday. It was totally stellar! And, yes, we did have our days of sunshine, just as predicted. Woohoo!

Anticipating Lots of SunShine

The forecast says we're going to have 7 days of sunshine here in Seattle. We'll see! I do love how the general mood of everyone is more upbeat and joyful when the sun is shining, so I hope it's true. And my DH is really getting into golf, so it would be great to have a streak of rainfree weather.

My card today uses the third Miss Anya in the Rain Snow Shine collection. She's just so happy and bright to me. AND as soon as I saw this card made by my friend, Mary, I knew I had to CASE the layout! It's brilliant! So without further adieu, I present Miss Anya Shine to you! Have a Sunshiney Day!!

Stylish Miss Anya Snow

Hi Everyone! Happy mid-week to you!

Today's card features two new items that are now available at The Greeting Farm. The first is this fantastic new line of paper, Sunny Glen. And the second is another darling Miss Anya. This cutie is Snow from the Rain, Snow, Shine set. Ah, there's just too much cuteness, both items are irresistible!!

After I posted yesterday's card referring to my love of the rain, we had a monsoon of sorts crazy storm last night. It was ridiculous! Thunder, lightening, rain rain rain and hail that gathered up so quickly it looked like we had a snow storm! It made me think of Miss Anya Snow here and how adorably cute and bundled up she is...totally prepared for the weather.

Thanks for stopping by!

I Love The Rain

This has got to be one of my favorite stamps of all time and I can't believe I've waited this long to show you a card with her!! Being from Seattle, where it's commonly known to rain a lot, (even if some of that volume is a myth) I have grown up loving cloudy days, the smell of rain on the pavement and in the grass, the sound of the heavy drops on my rooftop...and adorable rain attire!! Okay, I don't have much rain attire but I just love seeing it everywhere, especially those galoshes!

This set is of course from The Greeting Farm, who else? And there are two other beautiful Miss Anyas included...Rain, Snow and Shine (Snow and Shine cards still to come).

Originally I had colored up two skin tones and two hair colors for this card and ended up having a little audition. While I totally love the honey colored hair and the blushing cheeks of the below version, ultimately the pale blondie won out because I wanted to bring out a little of the yellow in the card. There are so many choices in coloring up images! And then there's the papers and the layouts too!! Oi vey! It's always a blast though.

I'll leave you with that and I hope that you have a super day, whether it's rain, snow or shine! Thanks for stopping by!

Friendship Month in the Sisterhood

Hi Friends!

My card today is the card that I will be sending in for our monthly "Sisterhood" swap group. This month was hosted by the talented and beautiful, Kelly and the theme is "Friendship Gum." This card was to include an element of surprise, so I included a pouch on the inside. I will fill it with something fun to really surprise my recipients...they'll just have to wait and see!

This is my first stamp from Stamping Bella and when I saw it I knew I had to have it! It reminds me of myself and a long time friend of mine...we're just as cute and fashionable as these two. LOL. Actually it was the hair that got me! :)

Hope you're having a great start to your week! Oh and I wanted to give a special shout out and BIG HUGE congratulations to my dear friend, Sandra!! She is Whipper Snappers Featured Designer!! Check it out!! All her stuff is SO SO AMAZING! Congrats, Dearie!

Scrappin for Nana

Several months ago my friends and I found out that another one of our dear friends was going to become a grandma for the first time and to twins even! So an idea was born. The brilliant Karen came up with a collaborative brag book for our sweet friend. I was excited to get to work on my pages, even though I'm a little rusty in that area. Since I found out how much quicker it is to complete a card project rather than a scrap page, my scrapbook has sat untouched for over a year now. BUT with this project and another one I recently completed, I discovered that making 8x8 scrapbook pages goes a lot faster than 12x12's! Duh, right? I was always trying to get more bang for my buck though (more pictures on a page) and that's why I hadn't gone with the smaller pages before. I think these turned out great though and I'm excited to see them filled with sweet baby pictures! As always, thanks for stopping by! And Congrats again, my dear Michelle!!

My card for you today again uses Hope from the Hope and Grace set at The Greeting Farm and is my version of shabby chic (light colors, stitching and distressing). Someone who has completely perfected what I call "shabby chic" but there's probably a different name for it, is my fellow Gardener, Melyssa. Check out here blog here.

A Whole Lot of Color

It's Monday again and I have a new card for you! I hope all of you had a fabulous weekend, especially all you beautiful moms, moms-to-be and future moms. I'm in the latter category right now, except for being a mom to my wired puppy, Winston. :)

For today's card I wanted to do 3 things. I really wanted to use Hope from the new Hope and Grace set at The Greeting Farm, I wanted to use an old sketch challenge from over at SCS (which I cannot for the life of me find the number now but I will get back to you when I do) and I wanted to use this new Nana's kids mat stack I bought in my Michael's paper splurge a couple weeks ago. I succeeded in all 3, but let me tell you it is way out of my comfort zone to use these kind of colors. I usually go for the softer, earthy, or more darker toned stuff (very much like tomorrow's card). But since I was thinking outside the box, I also decided to bling it up! And hopefully you can tell that I had a lot of fun too!

I hope your week is full of fun and encouragment!

A Hero On So Many Levels

The weekend is finally here. Yipee! And this weekend we get to celebrate our mothers!

When I think of true heroes I think of Mothers. I know many wonderful mothers who are compassionate, strong, beautiful, encouraging and so much more (including my own, beautiful mother, Lynn and mother-in-law, Carole).

I had promised my boss that I would make a card for her daughter who recently had baby #2 and as time went on I couldn't think of a better occassion to present that card than for mother's day. Her daughter, Jamie is a mother of 2 little girls, a newborn and two year old, but she is a celebrated Army veteran as well. Her time in the Army and stints in Iraq resulted in many lives rescued and protected and also proved with Jamie's can-do mentality that women are a driving force (literally, she drove the Hummer!). With that said, Jamie is a hero on so many levels.

When I thought of making a card for her, my thoughts instantly went to The Greeting Farm's hero set. I had been mulling around this patchwork quilted paper idea for quite some time now and knew that it would be perfect for this little project. I also was very excited to at the challenge to turn Hero Ian into a Heroine Army Girl. For the patchwork background I took several different patterned papers, cut them into squares and glued them together. Then I stitched a grid around them. To make this stamp into a girl I drew a ponytail and added blush and eyelashes.

I hope that Jamie will feel very loved and appreciated this Sunday. And I hope that if other women who are serving in our military see this card, that they would know that it's for them too. We thank you and we celebrate you, our True Heroes.

A May Dahlia

Hiya!
I'm not sure what the weather is like in your neck of the woods but it is rain rain rainy over here in Seattle. Big surprise, eh? On days like this I just want to snuggle up with a good book or a cuppa tea and a chick flick! Alas, I'm at work. But it's all good.

My card today is the sister card to the Annika card from last week. I used The Greeting Farm's Dahlia and matched her in composition to her Wild Sprout sister. I'm glad so many people said they liked purple, because here's some more for you! :) Have a great day...may there be sunshine even amidst the rain.

Hugs,
Kadie
